Budget
Split monthly take-home pay into needs, wants, and savings. Compare optional actual spending.
$1,200
Sample savings target on a 50/30/20 split. Not a budget you must follow.
How this budget split works
Each bucket is take-home pay times the percent you choose. Annual targets are the monthly target times 12. Optional actuals are subtracted from the targets so you can see over and under. The year tiles grow only the savings target.
Questions
- Do the percents have to add to 100?
- No. Custom percents stay as you type them. The page shows the sum so you can see when they do not add to 100.
- What is take-home pay?
- It is the monthly amount you enter. This calculator does not estimate taxes or deductions.
- What do the 1, 5, and 10 year tiles show?
- They compound only the savings-bucket target each month at the APY in More options. They are an illustration, not a savings-account quote.
- Is this a budget I should follow?
- No. The splits are presets you can change. Nothing here is financial advice.
